K-12 books selected and evaluated by teacher-librarians and educators.
Our Books for Schools digital database includes hundreds to BC and Canadian-published books designed for teachers, educators, and librarians in the K–12 school system.
BC Books for Schools and Indigenous Books for Schools, a combined database of BC-published books designed for teachers, educators, and librarians in the K–12 school system.
Each book has been selected from publisher submissions by teacher-evaluators, and reviewed for relevance to K–12 curricula in BC and Canada, appropriateness of reading level, and suitability of content for the K–12 classrooms.
We also evaluate each Indigenous book for Indigenous Voice. Find out more about our unique evaluation and annotation process here.

Open Call: K-12 Evaluators for Books for Schools
We are seeking teachers and/or teacher-librarians to evaluate K–12 books for our BC Books for Schools and Indigenous Books for Schools digital databases, to be released in fall 2025.
A longstanding initiative of Books BC in consultation with lead education consultant Jackie Lever, this database is a highly valued resource for teacher-librarians owing to the independent peer evaluation process. The title annotations and curricula connections distinguish the collection as a professional resource as opposed to a publisher’s marketing tool. Both collections will be promoted to library wholesalers and retailers who do significant business with school libraries.
