Books BC is back with the ninth annual BC Book Day on Monday, April 17, 2023!
WHAT IS IT?
It’s a day of celebration and connection. Held at the BC Legislature’s Hall of Honour, BC Book Day brings together government and industry stakeholders, including BC publishers, authors, festival directors, librarians, and booksellers, to celebrate the literary landscape of our province.
The ninth BC Book Day will be our first in-person one since 2019 and will be celebrated with in-person exhibits from BC’s regional publishers in the Hall of Honour as well as online and social media activations.
The Day is part of BC Creative Industries Week, which brings together stakeholders in film and television, digital entertainment, music and sound recording, and book and magazine publishing to showcase the growing contributions to the province’s economy.
BC Book Day also provides an opportunity for communities in all parts of our province to share in the celebration of BC books and authors.
HOW CAN I CELEBRATE BC BOOK DAY?
If you’re a reader, celebrate the Day by sharing your favourite BC reads on social media. If you’re a bookseller and librarian, we welcome you to brand your events and programming as part of BC Book Day. We’d love to see photos! Use the hashtag #BCBookDay and tag us @ReadLocalBC (we’re on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram).
We’ve created social media graphics and suggested wording, which you are welcome to use and customize!
