On April 23, 2018, the BC Legislature will host the fifth annual BC Book Day, offering an opportunity for MLAs and their staff to meet with the province’s publishers, authors, festival directors, librarians, and booksellers and to celebrate BC books. A number of speakers will offer remarks as part of the celebration. Following the display in the Rotunda, a proclamation declaring April 23, 2018, as BC Book Day will be read in the Legislature.
This year the date coincides with Creative Industries Week, which aims to increase awareness of the creative industries in BC—including film and tv, digital entertainment, music and sound recording, & book and magazine publishing—and their growing contributions to BC’s economy and job opportunities available in this sector.
