Events all around BC this week—here is what is on our calendar. You don’t want to miss these great readings, signings, and talks. 

The premiere Campbell River writer event, Words on the Water, begins this Friday, March 16 with numerous authors in attendance, such as Renee Saklikar, Terry GlavinMark Leiren-YoungDavid Chariandy, and Bev Sellars.

Ivan Coyote will be in Squamish on Friday, March 16 for a reading, talk, and Q&A at Quest University.

Kara Stanley, author of Fallen (Greystone Books) and Ghost Warning (Caitlin Press), will be reading her contribution to the recent anthology, Love Me True (Caitlin Press) in Gibsons on Saturday, March 17. Her husband, musician Simon Paradis, will provide musical interludes.

UBC Creative Writing is joined by three illustrious alumni who are also award-winning, Indigenous authors. On Monday, March 19, hear from Eden RobinsonKatherena Vermette, and Jordan Abel with moderator Alix Ohlin, acclaimed author and the new Chair of the UBC Creative Writing Program.

Amber Dawn will be launching her latest novel, Sodom Road Exit, at the Tonic Reading Series on Tuesday, March 20 with Ivanna Besenovsky, Chelene Knight, and David Ly. Chelene and David will also be launching their new books.

Lunch Poems at SFU hosts their monthly event this Wednesday, March 21 at SFU Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver. The featured poets are Carleigh Baker and Aidan Chafe.

Join Royal BC Museum’s curator emeritus Richard Hebda and textiles conservator Kjerstin Mackie as they speak about their work on Kwädąy Dän Ts’ìnchį: Teachings from Long Ago Person Found on Wednesday, March 21 in Victoria

Author Claire Sicherman will be at Banyen Books on Thursday, March 22 to discuss her memoir, Imprint: A Memoir of Trauma in the Third Generation.

Twisted Poets Literary Salon is a monthly evening of poetry followed by an open mic in Vancouver. For the March event on Thursday, March 22, the open mic is temporarily suspended in favour of an extra-long program of featured readers from the Sustenance anthology.

Food photographer and author of First, We Brunch, Rebecca Wellman will be the featured guest at an event in Victoria on Thursday, March 22. The evening is a fundraiser for Story Studio, a Victoria-based non-profit that gets kids into writing.
